Join us for the inaugural Chinese American Diaspora Mission Conference on November 7-8, 2025, hosted by Grace Mission University and LOGOS Evangelical Seminary. This groundbreaking event aims to foster missional learning communities and cultivate missional spirituality within Chinese American churches.

Conference Purpose & Vision
This inaugural conference is part of the Thriving Congregations Initiative (TCI) project aimed at fostering missional learning communities and cultivating missional spirituality within Asian American churches. It is designed specifically for Chinese American church pastors and leaders.
The goal is to encourage and equip them to become vibrant missional communities. Korean American churches will serve and support this effort through partnership, hospitality, and shared theological reflection.

Opening Plenary Speaker
Born into a pastor's family, Rev. Felix Liu experienced the joy of God's forgiveness during his university years and received a clear calling to serve as a servant of Jesus Christ. He graduated with advanced degrees from Taiwan Theological Seminary and Fuller Theological Seminary.
His extensive ministry experience includes serving as chaplain at Christian universities, pastoring the Evangelical Formosan Church in Los Angeles for 25 years, and serving as President of Logos Evangelical Seminary for 25 years. Since 2014, he has been Pastor Emeritus at EFC-LA and Chancellor of Logos Evangelical Seminary.

Closing Plenary Speaker
Rev. Mark Ger was originally a civil engineer who later answered God's calling, left his profession, and pursued theological studies. He earned a Master of Divinity from China Graduate School of Theology in Taiwan and a Doctor of Ministry from Logos Evangelical Seminary in North America.
Since 1987, he has served in full-time ministry—pastoring congregations in Taiwan and North America and engaging extensively in cross-cultural mission work in Australia, Costa Rica, and Mexico.
In 2005, he founded All National Mission International; from 2010 to 2012 he served as General Secretary of the Taiwan China Ministries International. He has also taught as a visiting professor with the Good TV Bible Institute and at several theological seminaries. Rev. Ger ministers widely through revival meetings and mission mobilization, with a footprint that spans Mainland China, Taiwan, Latin America, and Europe. He currently serves at Bread of Life Church in Los Angeles and as the South Bay Representative of the Greater Los Angeles Chinese Ministerial Association.
Featured Speaker: Dr. Kyu Nam Choi
Plenary Session 3 Speaker
Dr. Kyu Nam Choi earned his Ph.D. in Laser Physics from the University of New Mexico after graduating from Sogang University and worked in the field of military technology before pursuing his pastoral calling, studying theology and missiology. He served as senior pastor of Temecula Calvary Church for 13 years and as Vice President of GMU for 10 years, becoming the 2nd President in 2016.
Grace Mission University, founded in Los Angeles in 1995 by the late Rev. Kwang Shin Kim under the Presbyterian Church International General Assembly, is located at Grace Korean Church (with 6,000 in Sunday attendance) and continues the vision of sending 2,000 missionaries worldwide.
Featured Speaker: Dr. Byoung Gu Lee
Plenary Session 2 Speaker
Professor Byoung Gu Lee grew up in a non-Christian family and encountered Jesus personally at a retreat, which shaped his faith and calling. After serving as a military chaplain assistant, he studied at Calvin University and Chongshin Theological Seminary, then served as a missionary in South India for 16 years.
He later served as Secretary General of a Korean missionary association, gaining broad experience in field ministry, administration, and academia as a practical scholar. After earning his doctorate at Fuller Theological Seminary, he joined Grace Mission University in 2016 and now serves as Dean of the Doctoral Program, dedicated to missionary training and research, while also striving to prepare diaspora churches to become truly missional churches.
Breakout Session: Church Education for Missional Disciples
Rev. Joshua Xuan 玄雲宏牧師
Rev. Joshua Xuan has pastored churches in China and the United States for over thirty years and has been involved in promoting cross-cultural missions for sixteen years. He earned his Doctor of Ministry from Logos Evangelical Seminary and received missiology training at Fuller Theological Seminary. He has actively dispatched Chinese missionaries to participate in cross-cultural missions in Africa and Southeast Asia.
Rev. Joshua Xuan currently serves as Director of of MAICS Program at Logos Evangelical Seminary, General Director of Union Vision Mission and Senior Pastor of Agape Bible Missions Church.
Session Description
In this practical breakout session, Rev. Xuan will share insights from his extensive experience in raising missional disciples within the Chinese American church context. As the author of "MISSION’S ECOSYSTEM" and current Director of of MAICS Program at Logos Evangelical Seminary, he brings both academic knowledge and hands-on experience.
Breakout Session: Caring for Weary and Wounded Leaders
Dr. Richard Cook 柯立天牧師
Dr. Richard Cook is Professor of Church History and Missions at Logos Evangelical Seminary. He earned his Ph.D. in Modern Chinese History from the University of Iowa.
Session Description
Many diaspora churches face a quiet crisis: newly trained pastors and ministry leaders too often burn out, step away, or lose heart. Drawing from Philippians 3, this session explores how we can care well for weary and wounded leaders in order to nurture resilience, prevent attrition, and strengthen the long-term health of missional communities.
This session will be conducted in English and addresses a critical need within Chinese American churches - supporting and sustaining leadership for the long-term health of missional communities.
Breakout Session: The Role of Local Churches in Global Mission
Rev. Jim Shim 真心牧師
Rev. Jim Shim grew up in Korea and originally studied economics. Later, he answered the Lord's calling, left his work, and pursued theology and missiology studies. He graduated from Chongshin Theological Seminary and ACTI Singapore.
Currently serves as the General Secretary of Together for All Nations.
Session Description
With 26 years of missionary experience spanning Taiwan, China, and Europe, Rev. Shim brings unique insights into global mission work. Since 2019, he has been engaged in European Chinese diaspora missionary work, serving as senior pastor of Prague Chinese Gospel Church.
In 2024, he began serving as General Secretary of Together for All Nations. This session will explore practical ways local Chinese American churches can effectively participate in global mission efforts, drawing from Rev. Shim's extensive cross-cultural ministry experience.
Breakout Session: Becoming a Public Church _ Advocacy, Justice, and Witness
Rev. Bing Chen 陳兵牧師
Rev. Bing Chen previously served with Campus Crusade for Christ, as a missionary in Uzbekistan, and pastored in Korea for 13 years. He has also taught at seminaries in Korea and China.
Rev. Bing Chen currently serves as Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology at Logos Evangelical Seminary.
Session Description
Rev. Bing Chen has extensive ministry experience spanning diverse contexts across Asia and Central Asia. He has served for many years in the challenging mission fields of Central Asia, pastored churches in Korea for thirteen years, and actively contributed to theological education by teaching at seminaries in both Korea and China, leaving a lasting impact in both pastoral and academic settings.
With a passion for studying and proclaiming the whole counsel of God, Rev. Chen is devoted to equipping Chinese-speaking pastors and believers so that the church may grow in its understanding of the gospel and boldly proclaim Christ, all for the glory of His name. In this breakout session, he will draw upon his rich cross-cultural pastoral and theological teaching experience to guide participants in considering how to practice justice, love mercy, and boldly proclaim Christ in order to build healthy and impactful missional churches.
Breakout Session: Digital World, AI, and Online Ministry
Rev. Robert Chou 周逸方牧師
Rev. Robert Chou graduated with degrees in Computer Science from prestigious universities and previously worked at Bell Communications Research and the Siemens Research Center at Princeton before answering God's call to ministry.
Rev. Robert Chou currently serves as Director of both the Da L.A. Church Network and Know Wonder Media.
Session Description
In 1991, Rev. Robert Chou responded to God’s call to full-time ministry and co-founded the Vineyard Of Hope Church with Rev. Kenneth Kwan. In 2005, he established the Da L.A. Church Network; in 2006, he founded Good TV USA; in 2018, he launched Know Wonder Media Ministries; and in 2020, he initiated the U.S. West Coast 6AM Morning Prayer Platform. He currently serves as Director of both the Da L.A. Church Network and Know Wonder Media.
In this forward-looking session, Rev. Chou will explore how Chinese American churches can effectively utilize digital tools, including artificial intelligence, to expand their ministry reach. Drawing from his unique background in both technology and ministry, he offers practical insights for churches navigating the digital landscape.
Breakout Session: Chinese Diaspora Mission in Europe
Rev. Luke Zhang 張路加牧師
Originally trained as a materials engineer, Rev. Zhang was born again during his university years in China and received his calling to full-time ministry while pursuing advanced studies at the Technical University of Berlin. He later studied theology and missiology at Fuller and Logos Seminaries and has served in planting and pastoring Chinese churches in Berlin and Los Angeles.
He currently serves as Director of the China Ministry at The Sowers International.
Session Description
Rev. Luke Zhang’s ministry experience spans China, Europe, and North America, giving him rich cross-cultural insight into diaspora missions. He has been involved in planting and pastoring Chinese churches in both Berlin and Los Angeles, and through The Sowers International he has long been engaged in church training and campus ministry in China, witnessing the growth and challenges of Chinese diaspora communities in diverse contexts.
In this breakout session, Rev. Zhang will focus on Chinese diaspora missions in Europe, sharing his pastoral and cross-cultural ministry experiences to help broaden our vision, deepen our understanding of global mission trends in today’s world, and reflect on their implications for Chinese churches in North America.
